- CIS has a complement of 145 interpreters who provide consecutive interpretation in more than 50 languages and dialects by providing verbatim interpretation as well as interpretation within a cultural context
- CIS interpreters are proficient in English as well as the languages and dialects in which they facilitate communication
- CIS interpreters sign an Oath of Confidentiality
- Regular training is offered to CIS interpreters
- CIS services are very flexible. You can book an interpreter by the hour, half day or full day, by the week, or in other configurations to meet your needs
- CIS can usually provide an interpreter within 24 to 48 hours.
In emergencies, we will make every effort to provide an interpreter right away or we will work with you to develop an On-Call Interpreter List to ensure quicker access to interpreters
- CIS provides Staff Workshops/Orientation Sessions, free of charge, to your staff on how to utilize interpreter services effectively and efficiently. We also talk about the importance of cultural interpretation. - Organizations have the option of evaluating the service provided. CIS is pleased to advise that 96% of evaluations are rated excellent/very good
- CIS operates a computerized management information system that tracks your interpretation needs and matches your requirements to the interpreter best suited for your case
- CIS provides your organization with Booking Forms
- There is no cost to contract with CIS. Your organization pays only for the services utilized
- CIS issues a single, itemized invoice each month. You pay CIS; CIS pays the interpreter(s) who provided service
- CIS has the ability to provide your organization with reports (quarterly, annually, etc.) as requested
- CIS regularly evaluates the services provided to ensure optimum quality at the lowest possible price
- CIS is a non-profit program of The Family Centre. Every dollar received in fees is used to support the operations and development of CIS
