Mediation

Conflict in relationships is inevitable.
Both personal and work relationships can improve through positive conflict.
Conflict is positive when it increases creativity and improves processes.
It is ugly and destructive when it gets personal.

Here are some tips to manage conflict in a healthy way:

  • Focus on what we do
  • Or focus on how we do things
  • Start with "Help me understand….."

You might need help if:

  • You can't remain neutral
  • You can't "hear" the other person’s needs, concerns etc
  • You're having trouble negotiating

Mediators are trained to help people in conflict resolve issues.
They help people gain insight, understanding and improve communication skills.
This interest- based approach takes skill and training.
The Family Centre offers mediation services for workplace, family and divorce.
