Community Youth Work
Our community based service provides therapeutic youth work to individual children and youth (ages 8 to 18) who are referrals from Child & Family Services. Therapeutic relationships are established through the process of role modelling, mentoring, supporting and advocating.
Program Goals:
- Increase youth’s communication/social skills
- Increase youth’s problem solving, anger management and coping skills
- Increase youth’s life and living skills
- Increase youth’s relationships/attachments to family, friends and community
- Increase youth’s awareness of community resources/activities
- Increase youth’s strengths and resiliencies
- Increase youth’s ability to make healthy lifestyle choices/positive decision making
- Increase Aboriginal youth’s awareness of their cultural background
- Increase youth’s awareness of themselves/identity
